AI Vineyard
AI Vineyard is a new chapter in the history of Russian winemaking. This project entails experiments with the application of artificial intelligence in specifically designated rows of vineyards. In the future, the implementation of artificial intelligence in the winemaking industry will not only lead to an increase in the quality of the wine produced but also to the simplification of its production.
How it works
A drone and a robot operate in the rows of the vineyard. While the robot moves between the rows of vines and collects data on their condition, plant diseases, and grape ripening degree, the drone monitors the state of the vineyard from the air.
All the results are collected into specialized datasets, based on which the system will be trained to detect diseases at an early stage and accurately determine the perfect harvesting time for each individual row.
First Results
Artificial intelligence for the winemaking industry has already proven itself as an extremely ambitious and promising system. As part of the AI Wine project, a limited batch of wine consisting of 50 bottles was released. This batch is primarily interesting because the blend formula was created by AI, which independently suggested a blend of two Crimean wines based on data on their chemical composition and evaluations by professional sommeliers.
AI Wine is a blend of Jevat Kara and Cabernet Sauvignon from the WINEPARK vineyard in a 4:1 ratio. This wine was evaluated by an expert team of sommeliers and received a score of 87.8, which is more than satisfactory for a first experiment.
Unexpected application in tourism development
AI is quite versatile in terms of its functionality, so we also use it to solve other marketing and entertainment tasks.
For example, a neural network can create any image from scratch based on a textual description provided by a person. The images you see in this section were created in exactly this way. And even wine won't be left unnoticed, as an AI copywriter will provide its own description.
Project Perspectives
With the development of the "AI Vineyard" project and its full integration into the winemaking industry, we will have a unique opportunity not only to generate well-balanced blends with the best taste qualities but also to create wines with "targeted" characteristics. In combination, this approach can significantly increase interest in wine culture, leading to the advancement of Russian winemaking to a new level of quality.
